The Good Neighbour Mobile Senior Program
As a response to the COVID-19 health crisis, The Good Neighbour Mobile Seniors Program addresses the struggle of hundreds of low-income vulnerable seniors who are food insecure and lack access to healthy food and adequate nutrition on a daily basis.
The Good Neighbour Mobile Seniors Program support seniors with the daily delivery of hot meals and weekly food hampers.
The program makes it easier for low-income seniors to access prepared meals and or healthy food supplies catered to their dietary requirements or restrictions.
Seniors are able to access the food they need for good health while developing healthy food habits.
Our free delivery mobile service helps in alleviating frequent trips to the grocery store.
It is not always easy for seniors to go grocery shopping due to a lack of physical mobility, and other health conditions.
The program provides a variety of hot meals and healthy foods making the life of the seniors less stressful.
The service is delivered right to the seniors’ doorsteps using social distancing and other health and safety protocols.
While social/physical distancing is important and helpful in preventing the spread of the virus, it also places additional stressors on the seniors.
For many seniors lving alone, and dealing with isolation, depression and other daily challenges, the program also provides nutrition and health advice from nutritionists, and referrals and supports to other health, and social services.
To be eligible for the program, seniors must be over the age of 60. For more information on how to apply for the service, please call 905-454-8725.
